“Love is an Open Door”

I love when videos like this go viral, but there’s so much more to love about THIS particular video, because it was captured locally.

What you’re about to watch is a sing-a-long from the Disney movie, ‘Frozen’. The video was taken at Albany Medical Center, and it has more than 80,000 shares on Facebook.

Kamryn Slater is a beautiful seven-year-old girl from Hannacroix. She is currently fighting a wilms tumor (kidney cancer).

Kamryn is now going through chemotherapy, and earlier this month she was admitted to Albany Med for a blood transfusion. That’s when she met her patient care associate, Tom Shelley, who just so happens to be a HUGE ‘Frozen’ fan.

Thank you so much Elizabeth Ferannini for telling me about this!

Tom you are the man!

PLEASE SHARE – SHARE – SHARE this beautiful duet. There are people out there that still haven’t seen this video, and it’s the perfect example of how much a little kindness and fun can mean to someone.

How Old is Too Old?

SARATOGA

A good read: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/old-old-selfie-article-1.1871264

According to the article above – Everything has an expiration date, but don’t worry New Yorkers, you have some extra time.

1,000 New Yorkers from the Daily News polled to find out how old is too old to see Miley Cyrus, go clubbing, wear waist-length hair, drink Red Bull, (MOM) take selfies, you name it, and this survey looked into it.

Apparently we can stop worrying about our waistlines when we’re 64!

Some other favorites I took from the article:

Get/Wear a belly button ring – age cut off = 33. Phew! There you go, an inside secret. I still have seven more years (It will probably come out before then).

Use your college ID to get discounts – age cut off = 35. GUILTY! Thank goodness – there’s still time!

Shop at Forever 21 – age cut off = 37. If I can still pull those clothes off past 37… you bet your bottom’s dollar I will still be shopping there.

Order a Red Bull cocktail – age cut off = 42. It’s a Red Bull cocktail mom, not just a plain Red Bull, but I think it’s time to maybe say goodbye anyways?

Wear a backwards baseball cap and say “Dude” – age cut off = 39. Eh… Mike wears his hat backwards sometimes, and I get caught saying, “Dude” BUT we are both NOT 39… I would say around 32-35 this should probably come to an end.

Go to a Miley Cyrus concert – age cut off = 33, unless you’re going with your kid. How about AGE never. Can you tell I am not a Miley fan?

Take selfies – age cut off = 45. Sorry again mom – Although I don’t think this is fair, our parents are just starting to figure this stuff out, let them act/be young.

Order the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu – age cut off = 43. Cheap sometimes taste better.

How about we forget the survey and say if you don’t judge, I won’t judge.

“Look out, I’m comin’ in hot!”

I am pretty sure at one point or another my parents or one of my aunts took me to a drive-in movie theater, but I vaguely remember it. It’s something I have been itching to do for a long time, and turns out Malta has one! I had an absolute blast. Mike and I went to see Tammy, hence my blog’s title.

The movie was okay, I laughed out loud a few times, but honestly it was all about the experience. Before the movie started a lady came on the loud speakers and said you could listen to the movie with a portable radio, or by using your car’s radio. She then went on to say… “and if you need a jump, come to the concession stand.” This of course cracked us up. The experience was just so different and unique, but it felt romantic and old-fashioned in the most modern way.

Mike and I sat on the roof of my jeep. We opened the sun roof and turned up the speakers. We had a blanket, candy, popcorn, and luckily bug spray.

The people in front of us were pros, they had beach chairs, bug spray, candles – maybe it was a little fire pit – I couldn’t tell, and it looked like they were making s’mores!

It was a special night, something I would love to repeat in the near future.

I’ve mentioned this before, the job forces you to move and live in places some have never even heard of. Obviously I knew of Albany, but I never thought I would be living here! I am so grateful it all worked out. There is so much to do here, I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface.

I try really hard to take advantage of my free time, meet new people, eat at new places, buy local, go out on new adventures, and I am blessed to have Michael by my side for most of it.

Things I still would LOVE to do whether it is here or elsewhere:

-Trampoline Park

-Polar Plunge

-Acro Yoga

-Wind Surf

-Wake Board

-Helaski

-White Water Raft

-Cliff Jumping

-Repel down a building

-Bed and Breakfast

-Glass Blowing

-Tough Mudder

-Bungee Jump

-Rock Climb

-Snow Tubing
